My Holiday

You won't believe what I did in the holidays!

Yup you guessed it...I went to the pools with my friend Gabrielle.

Firstly I called Gabrielle to see if she wanted to go the pools and she said yes.  We both got changed and Gabrielle came over to  my house and we went.

Next my Dad drove us to the Lloyd Elsmore pools and my Dad looked after us. We dived in like little mermaids as soon as we got  in to the pool.  We had so much fun.

Lastly my Dad let us play in the park for a little while and we went on this yellow swing.  It was so big!   Then we went on this spinning thing, it made me so dizzy.

Then we had to go home.  We had so much fun.  maybe we can do it another time.

Mighty Muscles

                                                          Mighty muscles
By Sue Gibbinson

W.a.l.t find and summerise information in the text.

Today Mars read an article called Mighty muscles.
  • I learnt that your smallest muscle is your stapedius and your biggest muscle is your gluteus maximus.
  • Did you know that a smile uses 15 muscles,a frown uses 40 muscles and walking uses 200 muscles.
  • To build strong muscles you need to exercise and eat the right kind of foods.
  • Its important to stretch before playing any kind of sport.
I liked this article because it teaches you how to be healthy
and how to be prepared when you warm up.

My Reading Reflection

In this piece of work I was learning to find and summarise information in the text.

I have now learnt to write the most important information in my own words.

I need to improve putting information into a sentence in my own words.

The math Olympiad.

On Thursday our whole class went to maths olympiad.  There was two groups and four people in each group.  I was so excited when we first got there.  When we got there we had to wait for the other groups.  When the other other groups got there Mrs Hodge went through the rules and then we began. We went and got our first question then Mrs Melville started the timer. When we got up to 95 we got up to 100. We were so relieved that we won. Mrs Melville stopped the time and handed out the certificate then we went to class and finish our work.

My Alliteration Acrostic poem

Hansel and Gretel

Hansel and Gretel

In the beginning there was a little village.  A poor man lived there with his two children.  One was named Hansel and the other was Gretel.

One day they both had to go into the woods to find some flowers for the table.  Early that morning they started walking down the path when suddenly they realised there were a whole bunch of witches following them.  They were terrified!

They started running but suddenly they stopped because the path disappeared.  The witches had put a spell on the path so that they could catch them and put them in the oven to cook the two little children.

Hansel knew how to get out  of the witches way. Hansel told Gretel the plan. They worked together. Hansel had brought a sharp, long spear. What he did is he ran in circles and the witches got dizzy. Then Hansel took Gretel’s hand and they quickly dashed out. The witches didn’t see them go.

As they were running Hansel saw that his sister was getting left behind. He ran as fast as a cheetah to get Gretel because if they were really slow the witches would spy them out.  They scurried to a tree, then they saw a little, tiny, weeny leprechaun.

The leprechaun said, ’’I can help you.’’

‘’You can?” they asked.

’’Follow me’’ said the leprachaun.

The leprachaun stretched to a tree branch, and he swung up on the branch. He helped Hansel and Gretel get on the tree and told them to hide somewhere in the branches. The witches went past them.

They hopped down from the tree and walked home.

20 years later...it was an early and sunny morning.  Hansel and Gretel were still in bed.  They woke up and they had a stretch and went hunting for some witches.

They went and the found a witches lair that was made out of candy.

Hansel said to Gretel,”Do not eat the candy.”

Hansel and Gretel barged through the door and they both worked together to kill the evil witch.,They put the witch into the oven and cooked her up.

Forever after they became witch hunters and never stopped hunting.

The End.

My Reading Reflection

I have been learning to summarise the main ideas in a fiction text.

We are learning how to use a story pyramid to help us summarise Grandads dinosaur.

I found this easy because it was simple to think of words to put in the spaces.

One thing I did well was to find the important parts in the text and writing them down.My next step is to look for key words in the text.

My fractions learning.

This is my fraction goal.

Stage 4
I am learning to find halves, quarters, fifths and thirds of sets and shapes.
I know that I can do this when:
I can share sets or shapes into halves, quarters, fifths and thirds of sets and shapes.
I can write and read the symbol for each fraction

My Fractions Reflection

I have been learning to find halves, quarters, thirds and fifth of shapes.
I found this learning tricky because I could not do it at first but  then
my learning helped me understand fractions.
I am still learning to make a twelfth and then share it out.
My next step is to find a fraction of sets.
